Of all the many important details that must be addressed when properly servicing a driveshaft,
overlooking one small detail can cause big problems: Corrosion caused by electrolysis.
Electrolysis will occur when two dis-similar metals are used in close proximity and moisture is
present. Using a u-joint kit with steel bearing caps in a driveshaft assembly with aluminum
yokes will result in electrolysis. When the time comes to service or repair the driveshaft, the u-
joint and yoke will have “welded” together making replacement impossible.
